Eagles, Magpies battle hard in a thriller

A “HEART in mouth” thriller has resulted in theNorth Warrnambool Eagles’ under 14sbeing lifted to a coveted semi final after the Bushfield club defeated Camperdown by four points.

North Warrnambool Eagles’ trailed by nine points at three quarter time, but held the Magpies to just two minor scores in the final term to run out four-point victors in the Hampden league junior final.

“It’s up there with our best wins of the season. With it being pressure football in finals, the lads stood up well,” North Warrnambool Eagles under 14s coach Greg Kew said.

“We have a couple of kids that have big motors and they just never stopped running for the entire game. They were the difference.”

Earlier on in the day, Koroit’s under 14s 8.3 (51) defeated Cobden 4.4 (28).

In the under 16s, Warrnambool overcame the Hawks by 17 points, while South Warrnambool demolished Port Fairy by 107 points at the Terang Recreation Reserve.
