Festival full of sweet delights

One of the most wickedly delicious festivals on the state’s calendar –Chocolate Winterfest, Latrobe–takes place on Sunday,August 14, from 10.30am until 3.30pm, with a couple of special treats a day or two before.

Festival patrons can indulge in 38 events, individually or successively, at 26 locations in and around the township. Park in Latrobe and jump on and off the free shuttle buses atkey venues.

In this13thstagingof the festival, a variety of favourites return, and new activities emergeto tempt, inform, astound, amuse and above all, celebratethe wicked treat.

The official opening Saturday night includes the community lantern walk from Kings Park at 5.45 pm and the simultaneous Cement Australia Lights on Fire, relocated to the Latrobe Recreation Ground (not Bells Parade) from 6pm.

EMERGING LEADER’SEQUESTRIAN PASSION

Passionate equestrian, Ruby Gardner of Sassafras Primary School is this week’sEmerging Leader chosen for her resilience, respect and responsible actions.

“Ruby works very hard to become one of the best school leaders that she can be, continually striving to reinforce the school’s values,” teacher Mrs Kleinman said.

In after school activities, Ruby is inspired by dressage rider and riding instructor, Mrs Sue Lamont, and aspires to teach others how to ride horses,

“Everyone should have the opportunity to ride a horse and enjoy learning about horses,” Ruby said.
