The Greens drew first blood over the Blueheelers, scoring a try in the first five minutes of play.

Mounting a strong attack, they pushed right through for a second try before Yenda managed to find their footing.

“Our boys really dug deep and put a good performance in,” Greens coach Brent Pike said.

After answering back with a try of their own, the Blueheelers started pushing back and proved to pose a challenge for the Greens.

Despite being at the bottom of the ladder the Greens knew Yenda would still be tough and proceeded to chase Leeton throughout the match.

The Greenscontinued to stay ahead of Yenda throughout the game, thanks to theirstrong defence as they worethe Blueheelers down and never let them take the lead.

On the attack, the Greens were able to fine the weakness in Yenda’s line and exploit it, gaining much-needed ground.

The Greens received aboost fromRhys Wilesmith on the day, who returned to the fieldafter being sidelined from an injury sustained in the match against Darlington Point-Coleambally four weeks ago.

Wilesmith helped drive the team back to victory by scoring two tries.

“He was back to his best and in good form,” Pike said.

“When he gets going he’s hard to stop.”

Also scoring tries and contributing to the winfor the side were Billy Dickinson,Pike, Jeremy Panuccio, Josh Fisher and Danny Maskill.

The Greens have struggled over the past few weeks, after setbacks from injuries and struggling to regain their momentum from losses to Yanco-Wamoon Hawks and the Griffith Black and Whites.

Pike was pleased with the side’s efforts after taking losses over the last two weeks.

With Yenda behind them, the ladder leadingGreens return to the No 1 oval this weekend and willset their sights on the Waratahs Tigers.
