Police were called to an apartment block on Wilga Street, Fairfield, at 11.15pm after reports of a fight.

They arrived to find the boy – who appeared to be in his mid teens – suffering multiple stab wounds to his torso. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

The teenager, whose identity is not known, was in a stable condition on Monday morning.

It is understood he was stabbed during a brawl between several people.

A 27-year-old man was arrested a short distance away. He was taken to Fairfield police station and was released pending further inquiries.

A crime scene was established at the unit block, which will be examined by forensic specialists, police said.

Officers were still working to determine the identity of the teenager.

Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

It comes a day after Sydney teenager Aidan Smith, 16, was fatally stabbed at a party in Ryde, in the city’s north-west.

Aidan was one of seven people stabbed when a brawl broke out at an 18th birthday party.

Also on Saturday, a 42-year-old man was stabbed multiple times during an altercation at a boarding house in Blacktown. */]]>
