Preparations for the cricket season are underway with the Cootamundra District Cricket Association holding its AGM last week.

Representatives from most clubs, board members and representatives from cricket NSW and cricket Australia met to discuss plans for the upcoming season.

All board members were re-elected so John Stephens remains president, Brendan O’Callaghan and Brendan Gale vice-presidents and Pat Kerin secretary and treasurer.

Dean Bradley was re-elected as captain to provide some consistency in a role that has seen four different captains over the last four years.

The election of selectors will be held over until the association’s first ordinary general meeting.

The association is going from strength to strength at the moment recording a healthy budget surplus and excellent attendance at the AGM.

‘It’s the best attendance we’ve had in 15 years,’ said secretary/treasurer Pat Kerin.

This bodes well for the association heading into the second year of the South West Slopes Cricket League.

The league is in its early days and player engagement and feedback is required to maximise the potential of the new format.

Also in attendance at the meeting was development manager for Cricket NSW Luke Olsen to present gift cards to John Stephens and Pat Kerin as a thank you for their consistent hard work in recent seasons.
