Malthouse will call on his illustrious football career to inspire potential students and others in how tosucceed in their chosen field.

He will be presenting two 40-minute talks to what the TAFEis dubbing its‘very open day’.

The event is open to all potentialstudents and the general community.

Malthouse played 174 games for St Kilda and Richmond, including the 1980 premiership.

But he foundmore fame as a record-breaking coach in a career spanning 718 senior games – the VFL/AFL record –during his31 seasons.

His 135 games coaching Footscray, 243 with West Coast, including the 1992 and 1994 Premierships,286 with Collingwood, including the 2010 Premiership and 54 with Carlton saw Malthouse become thelongest serving coach in the history of the game.

Malthouse is currently the head coach of Fox Footy’s reality television program, The Recruit 2016.

South West TAFE chief executive Mark Fidge said Malthouse’s visit to Warrnambool would addanother attraction to TAFE’s firstbroad community open day.

“We’re delivering education to create a lifetime of opportunity and employability by helping people todevelop the skills they need for the futures they aspire to,” Mr Fidge said.

“We want every student to succeed and believe someone like Mick Malthouse,who has faced manychallenges and emerged as one of the all-time masters of the game, is the perfect person to inspiresuccess.

“Career goals and even the upcoming VCE exams can be treated like a grand final.

“Approachingthese challenges is as much about having the right mindset and the right approach as anything else.

“Mick has coached thousands of young people in having a mindset to win and have balance in order tosucceed.”

The sessions from noon and 1.30pm will also give football fans the chance to meet an AFL legend andhear his inside story.

All activities at the open day are free.

The event will run from 11am to 3pm.
